After Lucifer is sent back into the Pit, as well as Michael, the angels are in chaos. God hasn't returned, and the angels need a leader. So if they get Michael out, then the Devil gets out as well. The demons, no longer having Lucifer raised, are desperate.
Now, with Heaven and Hell in chaos, the Earth has been glazed over. Demons roam free and everything that goes bump in the night has been given a bit more breathing room. Of course, hunters are trying their best to hold the line, keep the monsters and demons at bay from killing off life as we know it.
Even though some angels hate the humans and just want the apocalypse to begin, Raphael, one of the archangels, has stepped up to the plate and has temporarily become the General of heaven. Raphael, seeing the error in his ways, realizing that humans are His creation and therefore need to be protected, now wishes to help humanity and throw the demons back to Hell.
And so angels begin to raise hunters from Perdition and even pulling those who are still in Heaven to help stop the growing masses of evil growing on Earth. The angels, though unable to free Michael, try to find a way to get him freed without freeing Lucifer back into the world.
Suddenly, Sam is back on Earth, no knowledge of who or what yanked him. With the demons possessing the Colt, all the Winchesters have left is Ruby's knife to stave off an army of demons. Rumors have begun that a new leader, named Mephistopheles has arisen within the demons to take charge against the humans, and seeks to find a way to free Lucifer from his torment and bring about the Apocalypse.
So, when Heaven's Not Enough, and everything seems to be going to Hell, who will you fight for?
