Name: Ryu Hoshi
Corporal appearance:
Personality:
Ryu is usually a silent, serious individual whose severity is often juxtaposed against the light-hearted, fiery persona of his best friend, Ken. He travels the globe with a stern nature, often appearing to others as boring or detached. On rare occasion, Ryu shows a very bad sense of humor. Ryu's overarching goal is to become a total master of his fighting style. To this end, Ryu plays the part of the wandering warrior, and takes both his travels and his training very seriously. Although he appears to be aloof and unemotional, Ryu is actually a kind and good-hearted person. He respects others with skills equal to his own and holds heroic figures in high regard. However, after years of travelling, training and fighting, it seems that Ryu has developed a somewhat more friendly personality.
He is still very quiet and reserved, but is willing to greet people with a smile and some kind advice, very much like his master Gouken. There is, however, a dark side to Ryu; his drive to improve himself, no matter the difficulty, can sometimes develop into a drive to win and to be the best, no matter what the cost, as these two goals are so dangerously similar. This darker drive is fed by, and in turn feeds the Satsui no Hadou within him, an influence which Ryu must constantly fight to suppress. Ryu's desire to be better can sometimes make his advice to his defeated opponents seem more arrogant and judgmental than Gouken's, though he is fundamentally well-intentioned. In times when his inner darkness threatens to overcome him, Ryu relies on his friends - primarily Ken, Chun-Li, and Sakura - to keep him grounded and snap him out of it.
Ryu is known as a very loyal friend and his best friend is Ken Masters, in a crowd, Ryu tends to seem very reserved or sometime he might come across as a carefree type of guy or could end up being a very serious individual who some may pick a fight with due to the fact that he has been a snob to them or was just plain rude. At times Ryu can be a con man alongside his partner in crime, Ken and the two have hustled many people who they have challenged to a street fight for money. Ryu’s version of fun is the thrill of the fight and he strives to be the best of the best and looks forward to the day when he has mastered all that he is capable of mastering in this world.

Character RP Sample:
Lightning crashed, thunder boomed through the skies and a heavy rain drenched the lands below. Upon the top of a mountain sat a single figure in white martial arts gear, this figure wore a red headband. His eyes were closed and his breathing was shallowed by the hours he had just spent training and honing his skills upon this mountain peak. The scent of the air around him told him that he was within a place of peace as there was no one within miles. As he opened his eyes, he had just finished a meditation, his reserved demeanour would allow others to notice that he was a man of great skill and strength. For those who have not figured out who this figure was known as, then the man was named Ryu Hoshi.
As Ryu stood up onto his feet, he could feel the rocky ground underneath his rubber slippers which he has always worn while he trained or fought. This mountain of muscle began to train and hone his skills some more as he through some punches and kicks to the air around him. Then with no hesitation, he moved into a familiar position and gathered his chi into his hands, the energies he gathered formed a ball of light. This ball of light was known as the hadoken and then after awhile he began to summon the energies of the satsui no hadou. The ball of light began to grow and expand as it became a devastating force to be reckoned with. The ball of light was now a surge of destructive energy. A proud smirk formed over the features of Ryu Hoshi as he knew that he had just formed the metsu hadoken. His eyes closed as he sighed with relief and then he opened them and upon his eyes’ opening, he called out “Metsu!” More energy was gathered and formed into the ball of light.
As more energy fused with the ball of light, the ball grew larger and larger and once it had grown to full size, it changed color, from a bluey color to a purple color and then within moments, Ryu got ready to launch it, although, he knew that this hadoken could be more powerful but he was only training at this moment and wished to perfect it through a series of charge tests. Once he was happy with the size he held, he thrust both of his hands forward by a twist of his waist and a forward step with his back leg, once both of his hands were thrust out in front of him with the bottom of his palms touching, one hand pointed to the ground while the other pointed at the sky, Ryu called “Hadoken!” From his palms, the ball of purple light was launched through the air and caused a path of destruction in its path before it diminished.
Abilities of Canon:
Each of these moves can have a shorter or longer charge and launch post but the power of the move will be effected (I.E a shorter post will weaken the move where a longer post will strengthen it):
Hadoken:
The basic type of Hadoken. A surge fist in which a character's willpower is utilized to focus ki into and through the palms. As the palms are thrust outwards towards the target, a surging energy (or ki) wave is expelled that results in a punching force traveling through the air. The damage created by this move can knock out weaker opponents but to a stronger opponent, it would stun them or even knock them off their feet.
Afterward, the drainage of this move could cause the user to move slowly or immobilize them for a short time leaving them vulnerable to counterattack.
Note: Half a post to charge this attack and then another half a post to launch it. If immobilized, it will take half a post to recover.
Shankunetsu Hadoken:
A Hadoken which is imbued with the power of fire, can launch from one to three depending on whether the launch is a half or full post, anyone touching this Hadoken risks immolation and will be knocked down. Also known as the Red Hadoken.
This move drains the user and they will suffer a heavy loss of energy which could slow their moves or immobilize them.
Note: A full post to charge and then from half a post – a full post to launch. If immobilize them, which will take a full post to recover.
Denjin Hadoken:
A chargeable Hadoken that electrifies the defender, stunning them momentarily. The user will become drained from this move but it is only for a short period of time (Half a post).
Note: Half a post to charge and a half a post to launch.
Shinku Hadoken:
A Super charge of the Hadoken; when executed, the Shinku Hadoken can hit the opponent multiple times and destroy other projectiles launched by the opponent. It is much more powerful than a normal Hadoken. This hadoken has the potential to knock out strong opponents and kill weaker opponents. But the user will be immobilized after the usage of this move.
Note: One full post to charge and half a post to launch. Immobilization lasts for a full post.
Metsu Hadoken:
Using the energy of the Satsui no Hadou, Ryu charges a hadoken with the intention to kill. It starts with Ryu forming a purple ball of Ki and as it is fully formed, he yells "Metsu!". He then fires it at the opponent whilst yelling "Hadoken!", inflicting a great deal of damage in the process with the potential to knock out strong opponents and kill weaker opponents.
The attack itself is considered the better Ultra for Ryu as it has many combo opportunities, a projectile allowing it to be executed from any range, providing many advantages that makes this a flexible Ultra to be used. However if timed wrong, this attack can be easily dodged by jumping over it or by using a move that allows the user to pass through projectiles and the afterlag will leave Ryu vulnerable to any attack of the opponent's choice.
Note: One and a half posts to charge and a full post to launch. This move leaves Ryu lagged for one and a half posts.
Zanku Hadoken:
This is an aerial Hadoken used by Akuma, Evil Ryu and Ken (in the Crossover Games), which travels diagonally down and towards the opponent. This move can severely damage weak opponents and can also cause injury to strong opponents. This move will drain Ryu of energy (For half a post).
Note: One post to charge and launch
Tatsumaki Senpukyaku:
The practitioner jumps and, while in the air, rotates his or her legs, kicking the opponent 1~3 times depending on the speed. When Ryu performs this move, his spinning is slowed by his raw power and so he only hits his opponent’s once, but the kick is powerful enough to cause the opponent(s) a considerable amount of damage with the potential to knock them out.
Note: One post to charge and launch
Shoryuken:
a spiraling punch, moving in an upward arc. The Shoryuken is invincible while the fist is rising, but completely vulnerable to counterattack when descending.
Note: One post to charge and launch.
Shin Shoryuken:
A Shoryuken in which the practitioner first strikes the opponent in the abdomen with extreme concussive force, then extends the other fist upward to smash into the opponent's jaw. The practitioner will strike the opponent very hard with one fist or elbow, and then perform a high-damage Shoryuken with the other fist. Of all the Gouken-style Shoryukens, this is one of the most potent Shoryuken without the killing "touch" rivaling the Shinryuken. Since Gouken was the practitioner who discovered this Shoryuken, and later taught it to Ryu, they are the only ones capable of using it as it is known.
Note: One post to charge and half a post to launch.
Metsu Shoryuken:
It starts off by Ryu delivering a powerful punch to the opponents mid-section, just as he yells "Metsu!" and then follows up by delivering a fierce uppercut to the opponents chin. He then keeps his fist under the opponents chin and applies a lot of pressure (the effect of this can be seen when the opponents chin becomes some what flat). Ryu then yells "Shoryuken!" and procedes on to deliver a devastating Dragon Punch that inflicts a great deal of damage.
The attack, if missed becomes a Kinjite Shoryuken that inflicts the same multiple hits and can be used as an anti-air and has similar damage and properties to Gouken's Kinjite Shoryuken. The priority and damage is also similar and is used primarily to counter Ultras, punish mistakes made by the opponent or when the opponent is in the crumbling state.
Unfortunately for Ryu, the oppurtunity to use this Ultra is little as Ryu's normal moves do not have the ability to set the situation that would fully use the Metsu Shryuken's full potential and would only be used as the Kinjite Shoryuken in some of the combos that suits the Metsu Hadoken very well. The fact that this ultra is not flexible give the fact that the Ultra can only be used for counter attack or Finishing off crumbled opponents. Just like the Shin Shoryuken, it has an after lag that is very long and leaves Ryu open to attack for a significant amount of time.
Note: One post to charge and one post to launch.
Hadou Shoryuken:
A Shoryuken empowered by the Hadou. The user gathers energy into their body and emits an intense golden aura which is then released as a destructive blast through the fist. Alternatively, the user can kick against the wall and perform this move as a horizontal, rushing attack.
Note: One post to charge and one post to launch.
Satsui No Hadou:
To tap into Satsui no Hadou, a fighter must be so consumed with the desire to win that they are willing to kill. As a result, only people who push themselves to be the best at all costs can take advantage of it. However, the untrained mind can be driven to a temporary insanity if they have not prepared for it. For those who do succeed in controlling it, they develop an almost cold, clinical detachment from themselves.
It was rumoured that, Ryu scarred Sagat with a single Shoryuken. But it was later realised that Ryu lost control of himself by rising up fist first, upsetting Sagat (and nearly killing him) with a Metsu Shoryuken. His attack took on the properties of Goutetsu's original art despite having never been taught it by his master Gouken. Although Sagat wanted revenge for his scarred chest, he never knew that the scar came from the Satsui no Hadou, a dark power that consumed Ryu. During his search for Akuma, Ryu finally realized that the Satsui no Hadou was the culprit behind his cheap victory over Sagat. Knowing about this dark intent, Ryu has vowed to reject the Satsui no Hadou. It was not until he reunited with Gouken, that Gouken was able to seal it away using the "Power of Nothingness”. However, Ryu’s able to tap into its power when he needs it.
