Diaruga and Parukia lived without conflict for a very long time... until a very evil person came along. He used his aura-seeing abilities for evil and his own personal gain, and disturbed the delicate harmonies keeping the two calm.
A war broke out between the masters of the universe. It raged without end, uprooting mountains and distilling the seasons. Humans and Pokemon alike lived in constant fear. Everyone prayed that a hero would be able to end the feud...
The people's prayers were answered, and the region's Aura Guardian decided to stand up to the force of evil. However, the guardian knew that if he tried to fight on his own, he would certainly die. The nightmare-bringing Darkrai appeared to help him, and together they fought bravely to stop the two god-like Pokemon from tearing the whole universe apart.
With their combined abilities, they destroyed the evil person and cast Diaruga and Parukia into a deep sleep. These heroes put the last of their powers into two gemstones, the Adamant Diamond and the Lustrous Pearl. If these stones came into contact with the sleeping dragons, the Pokémon would awaken and cause destruction once more. After sealing the dragons and gems far away from each other, the Aura guardian perished. Darkrai did not die, only faded away, lost in a deep sleep of its own...
Thousands of years have passed, and an ancestor of the legendary hero keeps the tradition alive as the current Aura Guardian. Each January he helps organize the region's Heroes Festival, which honors the brave deeds of the heroes from long ago. Darkrai however, has yet to be seen...
The evil's essence never really vanished, either... it has been passed on to the nefarious Team Galaxy. They plan to use Diaruga and Parukia to control the world, and with new tactics, new technology, and the power of sheer numbers, they will be almost unstoppable.
Trainers, get ready to choose sides! You all start the same, but your destinies differ... Will you choose the lighted path of the Aura Guardian? Or the dark trail of evil?
Note: Throughout your quest you'll be facing the opposite side and your own.
